Picked up nephew Jake from Market Harboro on my way past and hit the highway, heading down to south wales again to try and catch a Ray.
Met up with John (anglo taff) who was already fishing and had a few dogs under his belt.
Reports of a 10lb + fish on friday night got our hopes up,which were raised even more when the guy next too us had a small eyed first cast.
Weather was perfect, back wind and flat sea but where were the rays ?
Doggy followed doggy followed doggy etc etc etc, but we expected this realy so just had to put up with it.
Unpluckable tight weed was a mare but calmed down towards top tide and as the light began to fade, i kept telling john that it was gonna happen and sure enough, after watching a delicate bite develop, tight, slack, tight, slack, a fish was hooked.was this the one ? we watched closely as the shockleader emerged, then the trace then a cute little small eyed popped its head out, at @ 1 1/2lbs, not big but its mission accomplished..

As the light went,so did the water, and faced with a 180 mile drive back to harboro and maybe another 90 back home,we decided to call it a night.

John has a pic of the ray and if he can work it out, he/i will put it on here.

Another great day out in a smashing location, good craic again with 2 smashing guys.
All i need now is to get one myself, so, to use that well known Arnie phrase...

" I WILL BE BACK "
